If Colin Firth were my English professor, I'd do anything for an A.
Tom Ford’s first movie/production debuted at the Venice Film Festival to rave reviews. His first production, not only is the film aesthetically appealing (obviously, it’s Tom Ford) but also is driven by the autobiographical plot mirroring the director’s own. A Single Man is set in early ‘60s Los Angeles, where the story revolves around an English Professor, played by Collin Firth, coping after the sudden death of his long-time partner and trying to carry out his life normally through the help of friend played by Julianne Moore. After looking at the trailer you’re probably thinking where the hell did I get the plot after viewing nothing but beautiful stills? I know, but I think this adds intrigue and mystery around the film and actually makes the trailer seem more like a TV ad for next season’s latest collection by Tom Ford instead of a film.
