Andy Garcia, Alan Arkin, and Julianna Margulies star in upcoming family comedy City Island. Garcia's real-life daughter, Dominik, plays his character's erotic dancing daughter on-screen in this morally questionable comedy.
City Island is one long, drawn-out sequence of those infuriating “just spit it out!” yelling at the TV scenarios about a dysfunctional New York family caught up in a riot of lies. Vince Rizzo (played by Andy Garcia) is a corrections officer slash hopeful fledgling actor who discovers his illegitimate, delinquent son (Steven Strait) at work and endeavors to keep both his asinine acting aspirations and his unlawful offspring, Tony, from his wife Joyce (Julianna Margulies) and non-bastard children (Dominik Garcia-Lorido and Ezra Miller), all of whom have some awesomely lamentable non-truths of their own to account for.
The callous Mrs. Rizzo can’t kick her cancer stick habit, young Miss “college academic” Rizzo is actually sliding down a syphilis-infested stripper pole after classes, and Jr. is a porn addicted, all-around perverted pubescent boy.
Andy Garcia’s real-life daughter, Dominik Garcia-Lorido, plays his on-screen daughter Vivian. We bet Andy LOVED watching them film his little girl take her clothes off on stage!
City Island advocates for truth and demonstrates the awkward consequences of lying—what an insanely innovative moral concept for a film! Audiences can laugh, cry and cringe at the disastrous exploits of an eccentric Italian-American family. Essentially, it’s the overpriced version of
Jersey Shore.
The film also stars Oscar-winner Alan Arkin as Vince’s melodramatic acting coach and Emily Mortimer (“Shutter Island”) as his acting partner and confidant and will be released March 19th by Anchor Bay Films.
