Ice Castles star Taylor Firth gave MovieFill.com an exclusive interview on her movie career, meeting Michelle Kwan, and more!
Taylor Firth thought she was auditioning for a skating double for the 2009 remake of the movie Ice Castles—but she ended up in the starring role! Taylor plays Lexi, a figure skater thrown into the bigtime arena. With the help of her boyfriend Nick, played by Rob Mayes, she navigates the bigtime arena in the Figure Skating world. On Rob, she said, “ I was a little intimidated by him at first. He was the stereotypical California surfer, very handsome guy. And as much as my boyfriend would hate to hear this, it was easy to portray a relationship with Rob!”
She also got to meet idol, Olympic medalist Michelle Kwan. “Michelle is an icon,” she said, “She gave me tips on performing: to remember the joy of skating.” And as for the 2010 Winter Olympics, Taylor is rooting for America (obviously). Does she have a favorite? “ I hope Alyssa Czisny does well.”
And Now Taylor is looking to get into the movie business as well, “I had an absolute blast when we were filming! In a perfect world, I would get a ton of acting jobs. I would take a movie in a heartbeat. ” Checkout newcomer Taylor Firth in the Ice Castles DVD, available now.
